Review a Recorded Demo for Technical Objections with Gong

What This Does

Instead of re-watching a full demo recording to remember which integration, security, or scalability concern a prospect raised, Gong flags the moments worth your time automatically and lets you jump straight to them.

Before You Start

  • A Gong seat with access to the recorded call. Points of Interest is available to any team member on any Gong plan, subject to your assigned permissions, so check with your Gong admin if you cannot see this tab
  • The demo call recorded and processed in Gong, which usually takes some time after the call ends
  • Your organization's chosen Gong plan and pricing, since Gong is licensed and priced separately from any of your personal AI tools. See Gong's own pricing page for current tiers, and check with sales operations, who typically own the Gong contract, about your account's tracker allotment

Steps

1. Find the AI feature

Open the recorded call in Gong. In the left panel, click "Call info," then select the "Points of Interest" tab.

2. Tell it what you need

Gong has already tagged the moments that matter without any prompting from you: questions asked, competitor mentions, and pricing discussions are flagged automatically. Click through the list, or, for a recurring objection category like security or integration concerns, use the Trackers filter on the Search page (or Insights > Team > Trackers) to see how often that concept came up across this and other calls.

3. Review and use the result

Click a flagged point to jump to that exact moment in the recording rather than scrubbing through the timeline. Confirm the surrounding context (sometimes a flagged "question" is a scheduling detail rather than a technical objection), then pull out the ones that actually matter: what was asked, how it was answered, and whether the answer needs a follow-up. Use this to draft your post-demo technical follow-up or feed a win or loss summary.

Real Example

Scenario: A demo to a financial services prospect ran long, and you vaguely remember a sharp question about data residency but cannot place where in the hour-long call it happened.

What you do: Open the call, go to Call Info > Points of Interest, and scan the flagged questions. One is timestamped at 34 minutes, right where the prospect's compliance lead asked about data residency during the security section.

What you get: The exact moment and phrasing of the question, which you use to write a precise follow-up answer instead of a generic one based on a half-remembered exchange.

Tips

  • Gong's automated flagging is not perfect. It can catch a routine logistics question ("where are you calling from?") alongside a real objection, so skim the list rather than assuming every flagged item is a technical concern
  • Gong's speaker separation and transcription are good but not perfect. Before quoting a customer's exact words in an internal note or a win or loss summary, listen to the clip itself rather than trusting the transcript text alone
  • A recorded demo can capture a customer's real infrastructure, security answers, or other NDA-covered detail on video. Recordings live inside Gong rather than your own systems, so confirm with your security team or the customer's NDA terms before sharing a recording or clip outside the deal team, and check your organization's Gong retention settings if a customer asks about deletion

Tool interfaces change. If Points of Interest has moved, look for a similar call-highlights or key-moments tab near Call Info.
